May 20-21: Auditions for CLC summer production of 'The Addams Family'

Actors age 11 and above are invited to audition for the College of Lake County's summer production of "The Addams Family." Auditions start at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21 in the Studio Theatre, James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, on the Grayslake Campus.

Those auditioning should prepare one minute of a song from "The Addams Family" and a one-minute monologue of their choice. A piano accompanist will be provided. You need only attend Monday or Tuesday auditions, not both. Please bring an acting resume if you have one. Callbacks take place Thursday, May 23 from 6:30-10 p.m.; actors should make themselves available during that time.

Rehearsals begin Wednesday, May 29 and are held Monday through Thursday evenings until tech and dress rehearsals, which take place July 13-18. Showtimes are: Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, July 21 at 2 p.m.; and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 25-27 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 28 at 2 p.m. Please make sure you have the times free before auditioning.

Based on characters created by Charles Addams, this new musical comedy explores the creepy, kooky, weird and wonderful world of the Addams family. Wednesday Addams has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet young man from-gasp-a respectable family. She's confided in her father and now, Gomez Addams must do the unthinkable-keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Change is just around the corner for the entire family in this delightful tale, created by "Jersey Boys" authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music and lyrics provided by the award-winning Andrew Lippa.

The show is being directed by Craig Rich, chair of CLC's theatre department. For audition information, contact Rich at (847) 543-2567 or crich@clcillinois.edu. To stay current on CLC Theatre, visit the department's Facebook page.
