Library and Heartland to Host Blood Drive in May

A blood drive will take place from 3-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, outside of the Hanover Park Branch Library, 1266 Irving Park Rd. Donors will receive a $10 colonial Café gift card as a thank you from Heartland Blood Centers, which is organizing the blood drive. Blood donations will take place in a mobile unit parked adjacent to the library, and Heartland volunteers will be stationed inside the library to answer questions and direct people to the mobile unit.

"The library is happy to team up with Heartland Blood Centers to help replenish blood supplies used for lifesaving transfusions," said Monica Harris, Schaumburg Township District Library's executive director. "Our branch library is a perfect location, and we hope to get a lot of donors."

To donate, you must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good physical health, be at least 17 years-old (16 with signed parental consent form), and have not given blood in the past eight weeks. Donors must bring a photo ID.
