'Chicago Treasure' book launch party now postponed

Editor's note: Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Chicago Lighthouse is postponing this event.

We cordially invite the Glenview community to join us on Saturday, May 4 from 10 am to 1 pm at The Chicago Lighthouse North on 222 Waukegan Road to celebrate the release of “Chicago Treasure.” The creators, Larry Broutman, Rich Green, and John Rabias, will be there to sign copies of this innovative children's book and meet their fans. Face painting, balloon art, lively music, and delicious snacks will round out this day of family fun.

By digitally imposing photographs of diverse Glenview and Chicagoland children, many of whom are preschool students at The Chicago Lighthouse, into storybook illustrations, famous artwork, and photography of urban locales, “Chicago Treasure” lets any kid dive into a fairytale and become the main character, step into a painting at a museum to take a closer look, or explore tourist traps up close and personal. Silly original poems and clever newspaper articles tell contemporary, condensed versions of fairytale, nursery rhyme, and folk tale favorites like “Pinocchio” “Little Jack Horner,” “Rub-a-Dub-Dub,” and “The Little Mermaid.”

In this empowering book, every child, regardless of ability, ethnicity, or gender, is free to take on great roles. This hardcover coffee table book is a collector's item that is sure to please young and old and offer many, many hours of family time. All author proceeds go to the Chicago Lighthouse and Access Living Chicago, making this truly a Chicago book that gives back to Chicago.

While the event is free and open to the public, RSVPs should be made by Thursday, April 25 to Mary Anderson at (312) 447-3447 or mary.anderson@chicagolighthouse.org.

Can't make it on the 4th? You can still pick up a copy of newly-released Chicago Treasure while supporting local children and charities with your purchase by visiting https://www.everythinggoesmedia.com/product-page/chicago-treasure.
