Enjoy a day at the farm May 5 in Montgomery

The Dickson-Murst Farm in Montgomery is a remnant of bygone times more than 150 years ago when life was hard, but a lot simpler, and also meant being outside in the fresh air.

Visitors can get a taste of what life was like back then during Spring at the Dickson-Murst Farm on Sunday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This free event features crafts for the kids, hay rides, barrel train rides, farm demonstrations, and live farm animals to pet, as well as food from the Country Kitchen. Antique trucks and tractors will be on display and there will be farm demonstrations.

Students from the Newark Chapter of Future Farmers of America will have their farm animals at the event. The Kendall County 4-H Clubs will have projects for kids that they can take home and also will be selling annuals and hanging baskets.

This event is sponsored by Allied First Bank of Oswego and is made possible by the support of the Dickson-Murst Farm Partners, a volunteer group of The Conservation Foundation, which maintains the farm buildings and organizes special events such as this to raise money through donations and food sales.

Free parking is available and the event will go on rain or shine. Dickson-Murst Farm is at 2550 Dickson Road in Montgomery, south of Route 30 and north of Galena Road.

With more than 5,000 members, The Conservation Foundation is one of the region's oldest and largest not-for-profit land and watershed conservation organizations. Since it was founded in 1972, TCF has helped preserve more than 35,000 acres of open space, restored and cleaned miles of rivers and streams, and educated thousands of kids by engaging them in nature and the outdoors.

TCF's mission is to improve the health of our communities by preserving and restoring natural areas and open space, protecting rivers and watersheds, and promoting stewardship of our environment.

Work is focused in DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will counties to preserve and restore nature in your neighborhood. Find out more at theconservationfoundation.org.
