Frontier Kite Fly Festival to kick off summer June 2

The 13th annual Frontier Kite Fly Festival and Kick Off to Summer, presented by The Branch, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Frontier Sports Complex, 3380 Cedar Glade Drive in Naperville.

A free event, the Kite Fly Festival offers fun for all ages and a rare opportunity to view gigantic kites flown by kite enthusiasts from Chicago Kite.

Participants also can practice flying their own kites.

New this year, the Kite Fly Festival is being co-hosted by Naperville Park District and KidsMatter.

New events include an obstacle race between the police and fire departments and KidsMatter teen participants and a skateboarding demo and open skateboarding at the Frontier Skate Park, located adjacent to the kite flying area.

Families are encouraged to enjoy a relaxing day at the park, and to bring a picnic lunch or purchase food from a variety of food trucks on site. Food trucks at the event may include Aurelio's pizza, TCBY, Kona Ice treats, Moonshots and John's Rib House.

Unlimited inflatable jumping is available for $5 and a lineup of free, live music is planned at the entertainment stage.

Additional sponsors include College Nannies and Tutors, Oswald's Pharmacy, Naperville Convention and Visitors Bureau, Texas Roadhouse, Shotokan Karate, Urgikids, Codinu and Main Event.
