District 70 hosts orientation for kindergarten parents

The four elementary schools in Libertyville School District 70 will hold Kindergarten Orientations on April 16 for parents/guardians and their kindergarten students.

During the orientations, parents will be introduced to administrators and teachers, and be informed of what their children will need in order to begin school in the fall, as well as what to expect during the school year. An activity will be provided for the incoming kindergartners.

Preregistration is now open on the District 70 website at d70schools.org. Complete the online registration form found at d70schools.org under "Home," then go to "Register New Student" and follow the directions. For information, contact the registrar at (847) 362-9695, ext. 7116.

Illinois law requires that all students attending Libertyville District 70 be bona fide residents of the district. The district will attempt to verify residency with third-party software specific to this task. If residency is unable to be verified the parent will receive an email or letter from the registrar requesting additional information that the parent must then provide in order to proceed.

For every kindergartner, the child's birth certificate, with an official seal, must be brought to the registrar at the district office. A hospital certificate is not sufficient. The district will make a copy and return the original. The registrar is available from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-3:30 p.m. days school is in session.

Register before the kindergarten orientation, as there will be time for questions and answers at the program.

Kindergarten Orientation will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at Adler Park School, 1740 N. Milwaukee Ave.; Butterfield School, 1441 W. Lake St.; Copeland Manor School, 801 S. Seventh Ave.; and Rockland School, 160 W. Rockland Road, Libertyville.
