Maker Day coming to Elk Grove Village Public Library April 7

Whether you're into knitting or robotics, we're all makers! Come to Maker Day 3 at Elk Grove Village Public Library on Sunday, April 7 from 1-4:30 pm to meet makers, see demonstrations, and try hands-on activities that will inspire you to make something new.

This all-ages event is free and open to the public. Older adults as well as families with children will enjoy this event. The library opens at 1 pm.

Guests can explore a variety of maker booths, and visit a number of make-and-take stations or activity stations. Makers will share and demonstrate the work that goes into their craft or product, and offer "try-its" to guests.

Many areas of making will be represented, including robotics, competitive Lego building, woodworking, upcycling, photography, quilting, crochet, costume design, painting, science projects, LED-soldering, coding, origami, jewelry, and more.

As a special attraction, Fermilab's Mr. Freeze will present his entertaining and informative cryogenics show at 2:30 pm.

Youth can participate in team engineering challenges at 1:15 and 3:30 pm. Teams will be given one hour to build a specific structure with the supplies provided. Winning teams will receive trophies. Bring your own team or we can place you on a team. Arrive early to register; space is limited. No registration prior to April 7 for the engineering challenges.

Visit our new makerspace, Elk Lab, and see 3-D printers, vinyl cutters, and other tech equipment in action.
