Veteran's inspirational message enthralls Wauconda students

Bright and early March 9, 30 Wauconda FBLA students and football players were invited to an inspirational breakfast with speaker Retired Col. Greg Gadson at the Foglia YMCA in Lake Zurich.

The Foglia Family sponsored three tables - $150 each - for the students to attend the breakfast.

The breakfast was for students who are potential future leaders at Wauconda High School.

The message was to help develop strong leadership in children and the importance of giving back to one's community.

Gadson went to West Point and spent more than 25 years serving in the Army. He served in four different wars and lost his legs in one of the battles. He also appeared in the movie "Battleship" in 2012 portraying a wounded veteran. He is a portrait of courage in the face of great adversity and continues to share his message of service, teamwork, duty, perseverance and faith as an inspiration to others.
