Bartlett High theater advances to IHSA State Competition

Bartlett High School's 2019 Group Interpretation theatrical production of "Rose and the Rime" by Nathan Allen, Chris Mathews and Jake Minton competed in the IHSA Group Interpretation Sectional Competition March 16 at Reavis High School.

They competed against six other schools and took second place, which advanced them to the IHSA Group Interpretation State Competition at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria March 22-23.

This was the third time in four years, and the second consecutive year, that Bartlett High School advanced to the IHSA State tournament. Furthermore, seven out of the 14 cast members received the All-Sectional Cast Award for their excellence in acting and outstanding performance.

Actors needed to receive at least three of the five judges' votes to earn this award. Recipients of this award were Chloe Fox, Lukas Muñoz, Lawrence Yap, Jess Reniva, Naomi Latta, Gina Mortensen and John Raschke.

Additional cast members include Rachel Montesano, Colleen Fleming, Nicole Kamarat, Samantha Martino, Jack Garity, Nick Raymundo and Kelly McGee.

Sean Barry and Rachel Carbery are the assistant student directors, and the technical crew includes Jessica Bastian, Kelli Clagg, Katelyn Gac, Aubrie Gulumian, Julian Hernandez, Lauren Kohl, Shannon Leveille, Liz Malek, Luis Martinez, Sofija Matonis, Shivam Patel, Emma Rodriguez, Ziona Tharakan and Jake Weihe.

Production staff includes director Mike Miserendino, and assistant directors Dave Goldman and Linda Baker.
