Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity to launch Faith Build Saturday

Montgomery-based Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity will break ground at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at 1530 Solfisburg Ave. in Aurora for the housing ministry's third annual Faith Build, a collaboration of Kane, Kendall and DuPage County faith communities.

The public is invited. The project is Habitat's 64th new or upgraded home in Aurora, North Aurora and Montgomery since 1988.

Ceremony participants will include the future homeowner Andrea Wood of Montgomery and her two sons.

Other participants will include Rev. Jeff Barrett, Habitat CEO and pastor at Genesis Community Church in Montgomery, site of Habitat offices; local pastors, Habitat officials and Aurora officials.

Faith communities are invited to join the Faith Build in construction or support roles. Volunteer crews will begin construction on May 3-4 by sorting lumber and pre-framing. The following weekend, May 17-19, volunteers will begin framing the house and garage with trusses and roof sheathing. Lead construction group is Grace United Methodist Church of Naperville.

Since its founding it 1988, Fox Valley Habitat has built or upgraded 62 homes in Aurora, North Aurora and Montgomery. In addition to its offices, Habitat maintains a warehouse at 250 S Highland Ave. in Aurora
