CinéStudent Film Festival features international movies

The CinéStudent Film Festival is truly an international event.

This year, student films came in from all over the world. Films from Iran, Turkey and Australia were the top-reviewed foreign films this year. In addition, films were submitted from all over the Chicago area and the country.

"It's really amazing just how much talent is out there among high school students," said Bruce Janu, the festival director.

A total of 25 films were selected, and out of that number the top-reviewed films will be screened at the fifth annual CinéStudent Film Festival at Elk Grove High School.

Hosted by Elk Grove High School, the CinéStudent Film Festival showcases the best in student films and gives awards in several categories. In addition, attending filmmakers get to walk the official red carpet. Elk Grove senior Rebecca Skiple is the host of this year's festival and will interview those filmmakers on the red carpet.

The CinéStudent Film Festival begins at 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Elk Grove High School, 500 W. Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove Village. Admission is free.
