Lake County Regional Office of Education Foundation Announces 2019 Scholarship

GRAYSLAKE, IL - The Lake County Regional Office of Education Foundation, Inc is awarding ten (10) scholarships of $1,000 each to ten deserving 2019 Lake County high school seniors.

The Board for the Foundation has asked each Lake County high school to submit one outstanding student's name for consideration to receive one of the ten awards.

Completed applications should be submitted by March 8, 2019. The applications will be carefully considered, and awardees will be selected by April 12, 2019. A committee for the Foundation is in place to review the applications after submission. Students interested in applying can contact their own district superintendent for a scholarship application.

"We believe that every child should have an opportunity to be successful every day," said Roycealee Wood, Foundation President and Regional Superintendent of Schools.

The mission of the Lake County ROE Foundation is to support and enhance existing Lake County ROE programs (i.e., Regional Safe School Program & Attendance in Truancy Outreach Programs). In addition, the foundation provides scholarships to Lake County high school students to support their post-secondary academic studies and career goals.

"With the increasing cost to higher education, families are forced to assume costly loans that encourage long-term debt; making post-secondary degree attainment a dream for many. By offering alternative financial support, the Foundation assists in making higher education and career goals a reality," said Christine M. López, Foundation Board Member.

In the past, the foundation awarded ten scholarships to Lake County high school seniors that went on to attend the following institutions of higher education: College of Lake County, Dartmouth College, DePaul University, National Louis University, Northwestern University, Notre Dame University, University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin - Madison, and the University of Wisconsin - Parkside.
