Local club members to attend Home and Community Education Conference

Elgin resident Nancy Haire of the Plato Center Unit and North Aurora resident Naomi Redman of Kennedy Unit will represent Kane Home and Community Education at the 94th annual Illinois Association for Home and Community Education Conference. The conference will be March 12-14 at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham.

Through the years, Home and Community Education has changed with the current times, trends, or needs. It was first known as Home Bureau Federation, then Homemakers Extension Association, and today, it is Home and Community Education. Its mission is promoting education, social engagement and well-being in the community.

Illinois Association for Home and Community Education continues to cross the boundaries when providing inventive ideas for the lessons providing members opportunity to learn current and relevant information. They strive to provide state and county officers' important information that allows them to work, support and promote the community in which they serve.

The members attending this year's conference will be able to choose from 25 different lessons.

Members will be taking all this information back to their own counties to share with members who could not attend the conference.
