U-46 to host 11th annual STEM Expo Feb. 23

Students from across Elgin Area Unit District U-46 will embrace the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) through various hands-on experiments during the 11th annual STEM Expo on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Bartlett High School, 701 W. Schick Road.

About 350 students are expected to participate this year, said Deb (Perryman) McMullen, U-46 Coordinator of K-12 Science and Planetarium.

"They get to plan and carry out projects based on their natural curiosities, and then share and defend their results to fellow students, families, and community members at the Expo," she said. "It's always an exciting day, and the format reflects the true spirit of the scientific method."

Student check-in will be 8 to 9 a.m., followed by the STEM Expo from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

The closing ceremony will be 11:30 a.m. to noon. Admission is free. For details, visit bit.ly/U46StemExpo.
