Batavia's Immanuel Lutheran to put on 'Willy Wonka Jr.' March 8-10

Immanuel Lutheran School-Batavia is proud to present Roald Dahl's "Willy Wonka Jr." on March 8-10.

Performances will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the school, 950 Hart Road, Batavia.

Tickets for the performances are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for students and children under 5 are free. Tickets at ilsbatavia.seatyourself.biz.

This is a wonderful, wallet-friendly event for the whole family! "Willy Wonka, Jr." is based on the feature film directed by Mel Stuart and released in 1971.

The production being presented by Immanuel has been adapted for students, but features classic songs from the 1971 film such as "Pure Imagination," "The Candy Man," and "I've Got a Golden Ticket."

This is the third annual spring musical presented by Immanuel Lutheran School.

Last year, students in kindergarten to eighth grade students presented Disney's "The Lion King Jr." to rave reviews from parents, congregation members, and the community. By popular demand, a third performance has been added to this year's show.

"Willy Wonka Jr." is directed and produced by parent volunteers Bill McLane and Rebecca Bello. Kari Larsen, Immanuel's Director of Family Ministries, is coordinating choreography and Immanuel Lutheran School music teacher Grace Politowicz is guiding students through the often complex musical numbers.

Students not only perform in the show, but they will be working with the director of marketing and communications to coordinate and implement the marketing plan.

They also will work with technical director Heather Davis on set design and construction, as well as the technical aspects of the production.

The community is invited to enjoy this uplifting and heartwarming production of Roald Dahl's "Willy Wonka Jr."

Tickets are available at ilsbatavia.seatyourself.biz. Questions may be directed to the school office at (630) 406-0157 or school@immanuelbatavia.org.
