Women's Club invites all lassies to fashion show

At the Women's Club of Inverness December membership meeting, the Fashion Show 2019 co-chairwomen Fran Guziel of Arlington Heights and Liz McKay of Inverness unveiled the spring 2019 fundraiser: "A Wee Bit of Fashion."

The fashion show luncheon benefit, which will be held Thursday, April 11, at Stonegate Banquet & Conference Centre, will celebrate the Scottish heritage and history of Women's Club of Inverness and Village of Inverness. Invitations will be mailed in February, but here's a peek:

• This year's fashion show produced by ZZAZZ Productions will be held promptly at noon; guests can chat up the fashions over lunch that follows.

• All lassies have the opportunity to score cash or prizes in the Women's Club of Inverness legendary baskets, silent auction or money board.

• The Vendor Boutique from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. will provide retail therapy.

• Tickets are $80 for all this fun, fashion, feast and friendship. Reserve now for preferred seating by emailing wci.event.information@gmail.com or call Karen Kallman at (847) 397-8955.

The chair team also launched the 2019 Program Book effort with increased color at same ad rates. For as little as $75 (quarter page) to $1,000 (two pages), a business or individual can reach more than 400 women to promote business and support the Women's Club of Inverness mission. This keepsake booklet is an ongoing reference to identify and support local providers.

All proceeds benefit Women's Club of Inverness scholarship and philanthropy programs in the Northwest suburban corridor. To date, Women's Club of Inverness has reinvested close to $850,000 in grants to local philanthropy organizations, plus $400,000 in postsecondary scholarships to selected students residing in the geographical boundaries of school districts 211 and 220.

Aleksandra (Malyszko) Cozzi, a 1995 scholarship recipient from Palatine High School, recently contacted Women's Club of Inverness.

Acknowledging the importance of receiving the award, Cozzi said, "I still appreciate and feel lucky to have been a WCI scholarship recipient in 1995. The proceeds funded books/supplies during my first year at Illinois State University, launching my college career to earn two degrees and graduate top in my class. It was an honor to be selected and added reassurance and confidence at a needed time."
