Rosary spearheads donation of warm items for Literacy Center

Rosary High School's Alumnae Association sponsored a drive to collect warm winter items for the Dominican Literacy Center in Aurora.

Items collected included hats, gloves, scarves, slippers, socks, and blankets.

The Aurora high school held a donation drive at home basketball games.

New this year, patrons and members of the Fox Valley Festival Chorus brought donations to the chorus' Christmas Concert held in the Rosary Auditorium on Dec. 9.

Several chorus members volunteer at the Dominican Literacy Center.

The literacy center, like Rosary High School, is sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Illinois. The literacy center's mission is to help women learn to read, write and speak English within an atmosphere of mutual respect and dignity.

The Fox Valley Festival Chorus, under the direction of Mary Beth McCarthy, includes more than 60 members from throughout the Fox Valley.

The chorus is the Chicago area's original community chorus, and has been providing musical entertainment in the area since 1955.

Rosary High School is a Catholic, college prep high school for young women located at 901 N. Edgelawn Drive in Aurora, and sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Illinois.
