Elgin Knights of Columbus to hold Chili for Charity Cook-Off Feb. 23

The Elgin Area Knights of Columbus will hold its 21st annual Chili for Charity Cook-Off and Dinner 3:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the St. Thomas More School gymnasium, 1625 W. Highland Ave., Elgin. Tickets are $7 in advance or $8 at the door.

Proceeds will benefit all Elgin Catholic schools, the Elgin Soup Kitchen, and Elgin area youth sports.

Members of the community are invited to support the fundraiser by purchasing an ad, donating a raffle prize or entering their chili in the contest. Entrants must provide six to eight quarts of their favorite chili, heated, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for judging.

Judging begins at 1 p.m. Utensils, condiments, serving trays and Sterno will be provided. The entry fee is $20, and prizes of $60-$400 will be awarded.

Over the years, the Knights have been able to give Catholic schools more than $122,000 to support much-needed projects. They have also been able to provide more than $11,000 to support several Elgin youth sports teams and the Elgin Soup Kitchen.
