Teachers in districts 211, 214 teaming up for training workshop

The first in a series of training workshops on the topics of "Trauma, Race & Intersectionality" and "Mental Health & Wellness" will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13, by the teachers union of Northwest Suburban High School District 214 and Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211.

The training sessions are the result of a combined effort among Northwest Suburban Teachers Union Local 1211, Kenneth Young Center and Amita Health.

Approximately 50 people will be participating, including teachers, administrators, and support staff from both Elk Grove High School and James B. Conant High School, along with parents, students and Student Resource Officers from Elk Grove and Hoffman Estates. The event will be held at Trickster Art Gallery in Schaumburg, where there also will be a presentation by Trickster CEO Joe Podlasek.

A second workshop is scheduled for April 17.
