Mount Prospect offering assistance to residents who are furloughed federal workers
The Village of Mount Prospect is offering assistance to federal workers affected by the government shutdown.
The village can provide food assistance to federal government employees living in Mount Prospect and affected by the federal shutdown.
The Mount Prospect Food Pantry will be made available to any federal employees living in Mount Prospect and not currently being paid.
The village will not require the assessment normally done to qualify people for the pantry.
Qualification will require proof of residency in Mount Prospect and proof of federal employment.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call the Mount Prospect Human Services Department at (847) 870-5680.
The village is also offering assistance to federal government employees with their village utility bills (water/sewer/refuse).
Federal workers concerned about paying their village utility bill because they are affected by the shutdown should contact the village's utility billing department at (847) 392-6000.
Village staff can discuss your account with you, and help avoid the negative consequences of missing payments, such as being charged a late fee or scheduled for a shut-off.
