Woodland Educational Foundation Reorganizes With New Faces

With the addition of some new faces on the Board of Directors, the Woodland School District 50 Educational Foundation Board is feeling rejuvenated with new ideas and efforts planned to enhance learning opportunities for Woodland students.

The Foundation is marking its 12th year with the purpose of being a mechanism to receive and disperse funds, properties and gifts of any kind to benefit students and staff for innovative projects, student scholarships, and support for supplemental projects and technology. Since 2011, the Foundation has distributed more than $150,000 in grants to Woodland schools. The Foundation is a 501 c (3) non-profit group that also develops links among business, government, civic and community groups to support educational and charitable activities.

Elected to one-year terms as officers for the Foundation are the following: President Bruce Bohren; Vice President of Fundraising Rico D'Amore; Vice President of Recruiting Pat Termini; Treasurer Karen Barrett; Secretary, Ginger Dalbo, Event and Marketing Chair Kim Lobitz.

Four officers will be soon interviewing interested candidates for the part-time position of Executive Director of the Foundation. Officers have also discussed holding a golf outing in the spring or summer and a major fundraiser in the fall of 2019.

Anyone is welcome to be a volunteer. Foundation bylaws do not allow current school district employees to be voting members of the Foundation, but they are welcome to volunteer. There are no dues and meetings are held the second Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. Interested parties in volunteering for the foundation are to contact Pat Termini at pjtermini@aol.com. Anyone interested in donating to the Foundation, should make checks payable to Woodland Educational Foundation, 1105 N. Hunt Club Road, Gurnee, IL 60031.
