New Adler Center exhibit features various sculptures

The Adler Center's February exhibition will feature five outstanding sculptural artists who work in metal, clay, wood and glass. "Elemental: Contemporary Sculpture" will be on display through February.

"Elemental" features prominent regional artists Ben Bates, Darlys Ewoldt, John Hatlestad, Michelle Rial and Roberta Ulrich de-Oliveira.

"Their objects are simultaneously organic and refined," Exhibitions Curator Beth McKenna said. "While the hand-building techniques and ancient processes used by these artists are rooted in antiquity, the binding aesthetic for this exhibit is abstract and decidedly modern."

Two free meet-the-artists events are planned featuring "Elemental."

• Opening Reception: 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1. The Adler Center launches this contemporary sculpture exhibit with live music, wine and refreshments. See and purchase original fine art.

• Gallery Night: 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13. Come to Gallery Night and see the exhibit through the eyes of the artists, who will lead a gallery tour and share stories about their creative process.

"Elemental" is open for viewing at the Adler Center through Feb. 25. Gallery hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturdays.
