Students Raise Money to Build School in Haiti

Last Tuesday the Sullivan Ambassadors at Anne Sullivan School kicked off the District 23 Winter Fundraiser with an assembly explaining their global goal of building a school and a local goal of sending their peers in District 23 to summer camp. The students watched a video produced by the WAVES organization on their trip last month to Haiti showing the children that will benefit from the district's fundraising efforts.

The plan is to first raise $500 for the camp scholarship fund that was started in 2010 as a memorial to a former student who passed away from cancer. Then, they hope to raise $7,375 for the children in Haiti. After one week, they have raised just over $2,000.

There is a dance-a-thon on Jan. 23rd and a Dining Out event at Jimmy John's (1299 N. Rand Road in Arlington Heights) to further help with the fundraising efforts.
