Free federal/state electronic tax filing help at COD Feb. 9 to April 13

The College of DuPage, in partnership with Glen Ellyn Elementary District 89, is offering free assistance with electronic filing of state and federal tax returns.

Sessions are held from 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 9 through April 13 (no session held March 30) in the Seaton Computing Center, located on the college's Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Additional times and locations are from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at the college's Carol Stream Center, 500 Kuhn Road; Sunday, Feb. 24, at the college's Westmont Center, 650 Pasquinelli Drive and at Park View Elementary School, 250 S. Park Blvd. in Glen Ellyn; Sunday, March 3, at the college's Addison Center, 301 S. Swift Road; and Sunday, March 10, at the college's Naperville Center, 1223 Rickert Drive.

Accounting students, under instructor supervision, assist students, staff and community members electronically file 1040 IL, 1040 and Schedules A-B forms.

Free assistance is also provided for schedules C-EZ and small Schedule Ds (three items or less).

Participants must bring all 2018 pertinent tax information, the previous year's return (2017) and banking account numbers if participants would like to receive their return via direct deposit.

In addition, a drop-off service has been added for convenience at select COD center locations.

Drop off required tax documents, the IRS Intake Form and contact information at the college's Carol Steam Center from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 13 or 27; or at the Westmont center from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 20 or March 6.

Completed tax forms will be available for pick up the following week.
