Former Elk Grove High School Students Recognized for SkillsUSA State Competition

Former Elk Grove Village High School students, Jonathan Faughn and Maram Safi were recognized at the Village Board meeting on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 for their achievement in the field of manufacturing.

Jonathan and Maram were part of a team from Elk Grove High School that won the 2018 Skills USA State Championship in the Automated Manufacturing Technology Competition. Mayor Craig B. Johnson and Director of Business Development & Marketing Josh Grodzin, presented recognition plaques to Jonathan and Maram for their accomplishments.

Kacper Migacz, a senior at Elk Grove High School, was the third member of the team. Kacper was recognized at the 2018 Made in Elk Grove Manufacturing Expo held in October of 2018.

The SkillsUSA Championships are competitive events showcasing the best career and technical education students in the nation. Contests begin locally and continue through the state and national levels. Jonathan, Kacper and Maram designed parts on the computer, generated tool paths and simulated the manufacturing of the parts.

Maram and Jonathan graduated from Elk Grove High School in the spring of 2018, and are now pursuing degrees in engineering. Maram Safi is a freshman studying electrical engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Jonathan Faughn is a freshman studying mechanical engineering at Iowa State University.
