Seniors who rank in the top ten percent of the state's high schools are designated as Illinois State Scholars and receive a Certificate of Achievement for their outstanding academic performance. Selection is based on SAT or ACT test scores, and sixth semester class rank.

According to the ISAC Website, the organization's mission is to help make college accessible and affordable for Illinois students. ISAC provides comprehensive information and financial aid to students and their families giving them access to the tools they need to make informed decisions.
