West Aurora High School celebrates the season with madrigal dinner

West Aurora High School's music department staged its 32nd annual madrigal dinner Dec. 15.

Sponsored by the school's music department, the event opened with seating of guests in the great hall, the student cafeteria.

After a town crier welcomed guests, the event featured a procession of lords and ladies, toasts, a feast, a masque (play) and music by madrigal singers, Lyric Chorus, 36 singing wenches and madrigal brass

West culinary arts students prepared the feast of pork cutlet stuffed with spinach and roasted red pepper or spinach and ricotta stuffed shells with red sauce, salad, side dishes and dessert.

Brian Smith, madrigal singers director, coordinated the production. He said a record number of volunteers decked the hall the Friday before the event.

Students and teachers received a standing ovation to close the production.
