Barrington chamber celebrates 50 years at dinner, scholarship fundraiser

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce will celebrate 50 years of service to the business community at its "Spirit of Excellence" annual dinner and scholarship fundraiser on Thursday, Jan. 17, at Avante Banquets and Conference Center, 1050 Northwest Hwy., in Fox River Grove.

"Since 1969, the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce has stayed focused on creating opportunities for local business and building communities that thrive and prosper," said Suzanne Corr, Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce president/CEO.

"Our investment in our communities has driven our growth, establishing us as one of the most vibrant, active and largest chambers in the region."

Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce serves 11 regional communities: Barrington, Barrington Hills, Deer Park, Inverness, Kildeer, Lake Barrington, Long Grove, North Barrington, Port Barrington, South Barrington and Tower Lakes and represents nearly 900 members.

Its publications and website are go-to resources for business and community information. The chamber offers more than 200 networking opportunities each year, manages large community events such as the Family Expo, Uncork Barrington, Barrington Wine Walks, Barrington Area Economic Summit, Town Hall Forum and more. Each year they field more than 6,000 calls for local business and community information.

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce annual dinner and scholarship fundraiser attracts nearly 200 business, community and governmental leaders for a celebration of business and community achievements. Tickets to the event are $50 per member; $65 per guest, and can be purchased online at www.BarringtonChamber.com.

During the event, new Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce board leadership will be sworn in and the annual Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce Business Awards will be announced. The event also raises money through a live and silent auction for chamber grants and programs, as well as the Lauren Brown Memorial Scholarship fund.

Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce awarded seven scholarships to local high school students in 2018. The fund has provided thousands of dollars in scholarship monies to local students who go on to attend universities, community college or an accredited certification program that build future careers.
