The title of the show, written by Frank Del Giudice and the ensemble, is "Riverton's Traditional Community Christmas Sing, Yule Never Forget."

The Daily Herald checked in with Playhouse 38 and Del Guidice, the show's director, to learn more about the production.

Q. What is this show about, and what types of sketches and songs will be featured?

Del Guidice. In the small town of Riverton, the old theater that has housed the RTCCS for decades is being torn down. This will be the last show at the town's beloved Playhouse. They come to audition for the traditional show - some of whom have always been involved and some who are new. The tradition will go on with or without the old building; it's the community that makes the tradition. The first act is the auditions, and we meet all the participants new and old for the RTCCS. The second act is all Christmas.

This production has been developed in what is called "Devised Theatre." The individuals that have auditioned for Playhouse 38's production were all cast. Each has brought their own uniqueness to the table.

Some are songwriters, singers, actors, comedians and improvisers. Some have had a plethora of experience, while for others it is their first stage/theatrical experience.

The age range is from 13 to 65. This show was created by the participants and guided by a stage director and a musical director. They all have written some of their own lines. The show is written by the ensemble and the characters are created based on the company's own personalities and views. Those views are expanded on and we create a musical variety show.

Q. What are some of the most challenging aspects of putting together this production?

Del Guidice. The challenges have been getting the cast together at the same time. This is a busy time of year with everyone's schedules, so that is the most challenging part. Once everyone is together, the fun and amount of holiday spirit is great and very infectious.

Q. What do you think the audience's favorite part of the show will be?

Del Guidice. The audience will enjoy the small-town feeling of this show. The storyline and show is warm and humorous. It is really a great family show and good for all ages to enjoy during the holidays. Another fun and unique part of the show will be involving the audience. They will be able to provide input during some improvisational performances as part of Riverton's antics.

Q. Who is in the cast?

Del Guidice. Elizabeth Jepson of Bartlett is in the company and is the musical director. The rest of the cast is as follows: John Jepson of Bartlett; Rebecca Ladendorf of South Elgin; Wyman Clark of Geneva; Joey Wilbur and Grace Lenaghan of St. Charles; Nicole Urso of Streamwood; Hannah Banaszak of Elk Grove Village; and Katerina Rallis of Arlington Heights.
