Library Announces Flash Fiction Winners

Aspiring writers from children to adults are winners in Schaumburg Township District Library's Flash Fiction contest. Contestants had to submit short stories of 1,000 words or fewer based on the theme "Finding Yourself in a New Situation."

Winning entries and their authors in the adult category are: First place, "Passage to Morning" by R. Dana Barlow; second place, "The Reverse Escape" by Rosey Lee; and third place, "Opening Day" by Gordon Petry.

In the teen category, the first place winner is "Orange Slices of Life" by Penelope Duran. Second place went to "Take Me Home" by Tashnim Rashid Tawsif, while third place was awarded to "The White Door" by Natalia Oryl.

The first place winner in the 5-7 year-old category is "Isha's Incredible Trip" by Nandini Unni. In the age 8-11 year-old category, first place was awarded to "A No-Sob Moving Story" by Alandee Patil, while second place was given to "The New Student" by Umamah.
