CCU Sponsor Offers 15 - $2,000.00 Scholarships

Waukegan, IL, December 11, 2018: Time is running out to apply for one of the fifteen (15) $2,000.00 scholarships offered by Consumers Cooperative Association (CCA), sponsor for Consumers Credit Union (CCU; $1.2 Billion, Waukegan, IL). The deadline to apply for this year's scholarships is December 31, 2018. The scholarships are available for eligible high school seniors on track to graduate between now and the end of June 2019. Scholarship applications are currently available online at myconsumers.org and at any CCU Service Center location.

"In today's increasingly technical world, a college education is more important than ever before," said Kathleen Crews, President of Consumers Cooperative Association. "Consumers Cooperative Association is committed to supporting higher education through our scholarship program. To demonstrate our commitment, we've significantly increased our scholarship opportunities by awarding 15 scholarships this year - a 50% increase from last year. We're very excited about the increased opportunities our additional scholarships will provide and look forward to learning more about the goals and dreams of our students by reviewing their applications."

Applicants are evaluated based on academic performance, financial need and leadership abilities, including community involvement. High school students scheduled to graduate by June 2019 are eligible to apply, provided the applicant and/or parent/guardian has been a Member of Consumers Credit Union for a minimum of one (1) year. Applications must include the student's high school transcript through their junior year, along with a copy of their grades for the first semester of the current academic year. Should those grades not yet be available, applicants are required to include their senior class schedules. Those awarded scholarships will be recognized at the credit union's Annual Meeting on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.

"The credit union is proud that our sponsor continues to emphasize the value of higher education," according to Sean M. Rathjen, CEO of the Member-owned credit union. "We are proud to join hands with Consumers Cooperative Association in encouraging eligible students to apply for one of the fifteen scholarships."
