Enjoy 'Another Swingin' Christmas' with Naperville Chorus Dec. 8-9

The Naperville Chorus invites you to "Another Swingin' Christmas" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at North Central College's Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville.

The chorus, performing with the Pete Ellman Big Band, will present jazz and swing arrangements of Christmas music that they commissioned for this concert, ranging from sacred tunes, such as "Children, Go Where I Send Thee" and "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day," to arrangements of secular songs like "I Need a Little Christmas Now."

They also will perform older arrangements of songs such as "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Here Comes Santa Claus," and "White Christmas."

Pete Ellman's Big Band, formed in 2009, is well known throughout the western suburbs. Ellman has performed with nationally known artists such as Wayne Newton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aretha Franklin, Bob Newhart, Chicago Sinfonietta, and more. The Naperville Chorus is delighted to be sharing the stage once again with the Pete Ellman Big Band.

Audience members should bring an unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots.

Tickets are $25 or $20 for students or seniors, age 65 or older. For information or tickets, visit napervillechorus.org. Follow the Naperville Chorus on Facebook.

The season will continue at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, with Arthur Honegger's "King David." Composed in 1921 as incidental music for a play, the chorus will perform this with a narrator and soloists for the various roles.
