Radford Green is a Fundraising Leader

With only weeks left in the year, Radford Green at Sedgebrook remains the second top fundraising team for Lake County's Walk to End Alzheimer's. Although the actual Walk was held in October, Radford Green has been raising money since last spring and will continue to accept donations until December 31st.

Joanne Kopper, resident life manager at Sedgebrook senior living community, oversees the Alzheimer's fundraising efforts. "This is something that's been near and dear to me since I started working with the aging population," Kopper said. "We've all known someone, or have been affected by someone with memory issues. It's important to raise awareness and educate about this."

Alzheimer's affects an estimated 5.7 million Americans and is expected to grow exponentially as the senior population continues to increase. Sedgebrook is a Life Plan retirement community in Lincolnshire. Located on the campus of Sedgebrook, five-star rated Radford Green provides memory care, assisted living, rehabilitation, and skilled nursing. Radford Green earned its certification as a Dementia Unit Residence from the Illinois Department of Public Health in 2013.

The staff at Radford Green has held multiple fundraising initiatives including a spaghetti dinner, wine, and cheese party, raffles, and a charity car show. Kopper said that she expects that the final amount raised will be $18,000, which is well over their previous record of $12,000. "This is so important to us," she said.

Sedgebrook is a continuing care retirement community in Lincolnshire. Located on the campus of Sedgebrook, five-star rated Radford Green Health Care, and Rehabilitation of Sedgebrook provides memory care assisted living, rehabilitation and skilled nursing. Radford Green earned its certification as a Dementia Unit Residence from the Illinois Department of Public Health in 2013.
