Glenbard Parent Series to explore resilience strategies Dec. 5

The Glenbard Parent Series Navigating Healthy Families will present "Self-Care to Foster Resilience in Yourself and Others" with Peter Hall at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Glenbard East High School, 1014 S. Main St. in Lombard.

The importance of taking care of yourself is well known, yet many struggle to do so.

Hall, former school principal and co-author of "Fostering Resilient Learners," will share strategies to head off frustration and burnout with essential self-care techniques that will help parents, guardians and students flourish.

Participants will learn how stress affects the brain; how to get the brain "learning-ready" - supporting learning in and out of school, as well as effective communication strategies. Continuing professional development units are available.
