Bring a donation to Toy-Ful Celebration concert

Bring your family to the 25th annual Toy-Ful Celebration concert at the Glenview Community Church, 1000 Elm in Glenview, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.

Join the Community Toy Choir, directed by Guillermo Muñoz Küster, and the Glenview Concert Band, under the direction of Greg Wojcik, for a festive evening of holiday music.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; Christmas carol singalong starts at 6:45 p.m. This concert benefits the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program. The concert is free, but bring an unwrapped, new toy (or toys) to donate to the Marines to help make some child's Christmas morning a little brighter.

The concert began as a holiday solo recital for church member Tricia Melzer Swaydrak in 1992. She asked concert goers to bring a toy for the Toys for Tots campaign, and a Glenview Community Church tradition was born. The next year, she invited a few friends to join her. Over the years, the "Toy Choir" grew to 25 members.

After 20 years, the format of the concert changed and the Glenview Concert Band began to share the concert. The "Toy Choir" has now become members of the Glenview Community Church Chancel Choir with members of the community.
