Fox Valley Park District offers 10 ways to enjoy the winter season

Fox Valley Park District is ready to celebrate the winter season.

The Nutcracker Tea Party:

Join your favorite Nutcracker characters for a tea party. Your little ones will get a chance to meet characters from The Nutcracker while making a craft. Snacks and beverages will be provided. The party will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora. Adventure is for all ages. Fee is $12 for residents and $18 for nonresidents. Register online.

Daddy Daughter Winter Wonderland Dance:

Join Alice, the mad hatter, and other Alice in Wonderland characters at this winter wonderland, daddy daughter dance. Father and daughter will dance, make a craft, and take pictures. Dinner will be provided. Event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora. Event is for all ages. Fee is $12 for residents and $18 for nonresidents. Register online

Little Elves Gift Making:

Parents can drop off children and head out for holiday shopping. Your little elves will stay busy making their own gifts to take home and give to friends and family. The shopping event will be held from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 8 and Dec. 15, at Eola Community Center, 555 S. Eola Road, Aurora. Children's event is for those ages three to eight. Fee is $20 for residents and $30 for nonresidents. Register online

The Nutcracker:

Enjoy a modern take on the beautiful ballet that has been a holiday classic for generations. At a Christmas Eve party, Clara is given a nutcracker doll that leads her into a dream world. The ballet will be held from 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora. For all ages. Fee is $8 in advance or $10 day of event. Breakfast with Santa:

Join a morning of celebration with Santa Claus. Parents and children will enjoy breakfast, make a craft keepsake and have the opportunity to talk and take a picture with Santa. Registration ends Friday, Dec. 7. Breakfast will be served from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at: Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora. Event is for ages one and older. Fee is $13 for residents and $20 for nonresidents. Register online

Family New Year's Eve Bash:

Party-goers can bounce in inflatables, play games, participate in interactive entertainment and dance to music! There will be a countdown and balloon drop at noon. Preregistration is due by noon Sunday, Dec. 30 and includes admission, party favors, and a snack. Day-of registration is an additional $3; party favors may not be available. Party will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Vaughan Athletic Center, 2121 W. Indian Trail, Aurora. For ages 2 and older. Fee is $10. Register online.

An Enchanted Afternoon Fit for a Princess:

Join Elsa, Anna, Belle, Ariel, and Moana for an enchanted afternoon of games, activities, and a deliciously dainty dessert. Dress up in your favorite princess outfit and join us for this special event "fit for a princess." Register by Saturday, Jan. 5 for discounted pricing. Enchanted Afternoon will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Eola Community Center, 555 S. Eola Road, Aurora. It's for ages two to nine. Fee is $9. Register online

Fox Valley Ninja Warrior:

Calling all girls and boys. Drop in and put your ninja skills to the test. Compete against yourself, your friends and the ninja course to achieve the top time. There will be two different age appropriate courses, 4-6 years old and 7-11 years old. Each participant will create their own ninja headband. Program will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Eola Community Center, 555 S. Eola Road, Aurora. For those ages four to 11. Fee is $9. Register online.

Mother Daughter Valentines Beauty Night:

Mothers and Daughters celebrate Valentines with a special DIY beauty night. Participants make their own organic scrubs and bath products, and package in cute bottles to take home. All materials, light snacks and beverages provided. Registration ends Monday, Feb. 4. Registration is per person. Celebration will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora. This program is for adults only. Fee is $12 for residents and $18 for nonresidents. Register online.

Free Family Fun Fair:

Join in some family fun with entertainment, games, program demos, inflatables, food and raffles. The Fun Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Vaughan Athletic Center, 2121 W. Indian Trail, Aurora. It's for all ages. There is no fee.
