Find your tree at Palatine Jaycees' annual Christmas sale

The Palatine Jaycees will be hosting its 59th annual Christmas Tree Sale in the Palatine Park District Aquatic Center parking lot this holiday season to raise funds to help individuals and groups throughout the Palatine area.

The sale will run through Sunday, Dec. 16. Sale hours are 6-9 p.m. Fridays; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. The Aquatic Center parking lot is on Palatine Road, just west of Northwest Highway behind the Walgreens at 340 E. Palatine Road.

"This is my favorite season, and being able to chair this project is a lot of fun," said Bart Hickman, one of the project co-chairs. "We will be offering a variety of fresh-cut, long and short needle trees, wreaths and garland at special pricing. Shoppers can choose from our selection of Scotch pine, blue spruce, balsam fir, Douglas fir and Fraser fir in a variety of sizes at competitive prices."

As an added feature to the sale, the Jaycees will again be sponsoring Santa's Mailbox. Children will be able to mail a letter to Santa from a special mailbox on the Christmas tree lot. Santa will respond to any letter dropped in the box before Dec. 9. Please be sure to include a return address on your envelope so Santa knows where to send his replies.

"We pride ourselves on customer service," said Valerie Kinney, project co-chairwoman. "We provide a variety of extra services for our customers. Baling is available to make transporting your tree easier. We also are one of the few lots left that offer drilling services for specialized tree stands."

"Our Christmas tree sale has always been one of my favorite projects," said co-chair Brett Simonis. "We get to share the holiday spirit with our neighbors. Then, the proceeds from the sale allow the Palatine Jaycees to continue to give back to the community."

Every year, the Palatine Jaycees conduct numerous programs to serve the Palatine area and raise money to support community grants, scholarships, the annual Easter egg hunt, fireworks and entertainment for the Fourth of July Hometown Fest celebration, holiday giving programs and more.

The Palatine Chapter of the Jaycees has more than 130 members and is one of the largest chapters of the 50 chapters throughout Illinois. The Jaycees give individuals ages 21 to 40 the opportunities to develop personal and leadership skills while serving their communities. The Palatine chapter has been recognized locally and internationally for their efforts.

The Palatine Jacyees hold a general meeting the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Durty Nellie's in Palatine. For details, membership or any of its sponsored events, visit www.palatinejaycees.org or email info@palatinejaycees.org.
