Riverside Foundation Embraces the Global #GivingTuesday Movement
Riverside Foundation has been nestled in the beautiful Village of Lincolnshire since 1976. They are a not-for-profit social service agency that provides a caring home and meaningful life and work experiences for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their main residential campus is located in a tree-filled setting next to the Des Plaines River, and their group homes are located in Grayslake, Gurnee and Wildwood. Clients are engaged in purposeful and meaningful work and activities at Riverside's Work and Activity Center located in Vernon Hills.
Riverside Foundation has joined #GivingTuesday, a global time of giving that harnesses the power of social media along with the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations, to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity everywhere. It provides inspiration for people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support. Five years ago, Riverside embraced #GivingTuesday as a way to raise funds for their residents' care and needs.
The Coleman Foundation, an independent grant making foundation that supports institutions providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will support Riverside's goal to raise $30,000 by offering a matching grant up to a maximum of $10,000. They have invited Riverside Foundation to participate in the 2018 Coleman Foundation #ILGIVE Matching Grants Program. The offer extended to Riverside is: Individual donors making an ONLINE gift of $175 or more between November 1, 2018 and November 27, 2018 will receive a $175 match from the Coleman Foundation. The funds raised will be used to purchase a van to help transport Riverside residents and keep them involved in the community.
