Gail Borden concert series continues Nov. 11

Gail Borden Public Library continues its Sunday Afternoon Concert Series with trombonist Peter Steiner and pianist Constanze Hochwartner from 2 to 3 p.m. Nov. 11 at the main library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in downtown Elgin.

On their three-month world tour through South America, Asia and the U.S., the duo are really excited to perform in Illinois. Since the beginning of 2018, they have performed more than 80 concerts in universities and concert halls around the world.

Works by Bizet, Puccini, Piazzolla and many more will guarantee a program of a variety of genres.

The one-hour concert will be held in the Meadows Community Rooms.

Free tickets are available at the main library, Rakow Branch and South Elgin Branch three weeks prior to each concert.

On Dec. 16, the series will feature the Elgin String Quartet. Violinist Isabella Lippi, concertmaster of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, along with violinist Eleanor Bartsch, violist Amanda Grimm and cellist Sara Sitzer will perform a composition by Elgin's own Daniel Brewbaker, along with Brahms' String Quartet No. 2 in A minor.

On Jan. 6, the Metropolis oboe quartet (oboe, violin, viola, cello) invites you to join them on an exciting journey through the greatest chamber music of all eras. Aficionados and newcomers alike will enjoy this memorable display of high-caliber music complemented by the ensemble's energy and love for what they do.
