Tarkington named 'No Excuses' School of Distinction

Tarkington Elementary School was recently named a School of Distinction by the No Excuses University Network for its commitment to set a strong foundation of academics and character for all students. Beyond academic instruction, Tarkington students and staff give to charitable causes annually, illustrating to students the importance of kindness, empathy, and giving back to the community.

"We greatly appreciate this recognition from the No Excuses network," said Dr. Joe Arduino, principal of Tarkington. "Our students are hardworking, thoughtful, and compassionate, and we're so excited that the caring attitude we see in them every day is being recognized by a national audience."

The School of Distinction award was announced at the annual NEU convention, bringing together educators from No Excuses schools across the country. Tarkington staff also presented best practices on building a culture of universal achievement at the convention to a standing room-only audience.

The No Excuses University Network of Schools is comprised of schools nationwide that support and encourage their students to believe that attending college and being academically successful is possible for all students, regardless of background. Tarkington became a No Excuses University school in 2010.
