Holiday Programming at the Prairie Center for the Arts

Make this holiday season memorable for the whole family. Don't miss the holiday programming at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts:

The Schaumburg Dance Ensemble's Nutcracker kicks off on Friday, November 30 and has 10 scheduled performances through December 9, 2018. Schaumburg Dance Ensemble's vibrantly costumed and staged production of Tchaikovsky's magical holiday ballet has enchanted audiences of all ages for nearly a quarter of a century. Featuring professional dancers and a cast of over 100 area student and adult performers, The Nutcracker brings to life a fantasy world of dancing snowflakes, leaping Russians, and battling mice -- all held together by timeless themes of love, family and togetherness.

The Presto! Holiday Concert is on Saturday, December 15, 2018 with performances at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Three accomplished youth ensembles combine talents to create a heartwarming program of seasonal classical works and holiday favorites. The award-winning youth orchestra has delighted audiences at Chicago's Symphony Center and overseas in Europe and Asia, while the choral ensembles have been heard singing for the Chicago Bulls, Harlem Globetrotters and throughout the Chicagoland area. Together, these young artists use their worldly skills to create warmth in this one-of-a-kind holiday program.

Finally, VoicePlay "Warm Up: A Holiday Special" rounds out the holiday season's offerings. The cast of VoicePlay has taken the timeless sound of vocal music and turned it completely on its head. Reimagined as a full stage show, amazing, humorous, and vertigo-inducing harmonies pepper VoicePlay's music-without-music sound. Their performance ping-pongs between eras and styles, channeling the breadth of the musical landscape, and lacing it with inventive and often hilarious on-stage theatrics. Don't miss VoicePlay "Warm Up: A Holiday Special" on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.
