Libertyville School District 70'S Schools Raise About $2,600 For Victims Of Hurricane Florence

In less than a month, Libertyville School District 70 schools raised more than $2,670 to help victims of Hurricane Florence in the Carolinas.

Collection boxes were placed in all five schools, as well as in the administrative office to collect monies for District 70's Character Counts! Committee's "Funding for Florence."

All monies will be donated to Habitat for Humanity of Brunswick County in North Carolina, said Character Counts! Committee member and Rockland teacher, Dale List. The funds will be used to help residents replace furniture and mattresses lost to flooding from Hurricane Florence.

When the fundraiser ended on Oct. 5, District 70 had collected $2,670.23 in cash donations.

"Our goal is to provide some relief to the victims of the devastating hurricane as they work to reestablish themselves," List said.
