Elk Grove Village Fire Department Open House

The Elk Grove Village Fire Department hosted a very successful Open House event on Saturday, October 13. Many families stopped by the Elk Grove Farmers' Market, held in the adjacent Village Hall parking lot, and then walked around the corner to join in activities at the annual Open House at Fire Station 7.

Visitors had the opportunity to tour specialty trailers, sit in the driver's seat of Quint 7, and experience how it feels to be a patient in the back of an ambulance. Visitors were also educated about the importance of fire sprinklers through a demonstration of just how fast a fire can be extinguished with this life-saving equipment.

The Open House included fire safety education, mingling with firefighters, and a special kids' firefighter challenge. The Elk Grove Fire Department capped off the event with a demonstration to awe the crowd, where a member of the Fire Department's Technical Rescue Team rappelled off an aerial ladder from 80 feet in the air.
