Second Sunday Concert Series opener to feature Chicago Brass Band Players

The Chicago Brass Band Players will open the McHenry County College Second Sunday Concert Series at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, in the Luecht Conference Center at the college, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

This specialized 10-member ensemble of Chicago Brass Band members will perform a variety of brass repertoire from a broad range of musical eras., The performance will feature sounds of the cornet, fluegelhorn, tenor horn, baritone horn, trombone, euphonium, bass, and percussion.

The Second Sunday Concert Series features a variety of classical, jazz and folk musicians from the greater Chicago area, along with semiannual concerts featuring the MCC chorus, concert band, jazz ensemble and chamber groups.

Upcoming musicians include a Halloween concert on Oct. 28 at Cary-Grove High School; classical guitarist Brian Torosian on Nov. 11; the MCC Concert Band and Chorus on Nov. 18; MCC Jazz Concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 28; Cor Corps Concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 1; MCC Student Recital at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 and the Handel's Messiah at 4 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Raue Center in Crystal Lake.

The concerts are free and open to the public.
