Rotary Club of Long Grove hosts first annual Oktoberfest

The Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer, and Hawthorn Woods will host its first annual Oktoberfest, Saturday, October 6th at Buffalo Creek Brewing in downtown Long Grove. This is the club's biggest fundraising event of the year, to raise funds for the club's support of local charities and community projects, as well as international service projects. Since it's founding, the club has raised more than $1.2 million for its charitable foundation.

This tented event features authentic German music, food, and beverages. The event opens at Noon and runs until 10 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Tickets are available at Buffalo Creek Brewing.

In addition to a variety of craft beers available from Buffalo Creek Brewing, the event will also feature authentic German food from local vendors including The Village Tavern and Long Grove Apple Haus.

The Village Tavern will be selling bratwurst, sauerkraut, and German potato salad. The Long Grove Apple Haus will feature soft pretzels, apple doughnuts, apple cake, hot apple cider, and hot chocolate. Soft drinks and water will also be available from Buffalo Creek Brewing. Neumann's Cigars and More will have cigars available for sale.

The musical entertainment will kick off on Saturday at Noon with Frank K and Company playing from Noon to 3 p.m. Edgar Gabriel and the Continental String Ensemble will take the stage from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., and Die Musikmeisters German Band will be the main attraction from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

There will be face painting and balloon art to entertain the children.

The club is also holding a 50/50 raffle at the event. The drawing will take place between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The winner does not have to be present."

The Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer, and Hawthorn Woods meets for breakfast every Tuesday morning at 7:15 a.m. at Harbor Chase in Long Grove. Prospective members are welcome to attend.
