Four members of St. Catherine of Siena ministry receive awards from Rockford Diocese

On Sunday, Sept. 23, four members of the catechetical and religious education ministry at St. Catherine of Siena parish in West Dundee were given the Bishop O'Neill Award in Catechetics for outstanding service.

The award by the Diocese of Rockford is given to recipients only once in recognition of long-term and outstanding service in the catechetical and religious education ministry in a parish.

The recipients, whose service at St. Catherine of Siena parish has been given over a considerable period of time, are: Suzy Weber, 5 years; Marcy Dobush, 8 years; Jessica Cranston, 10 years; and Judy Bajko, 13 years.

"We are grateful for the multiple years of continuous service they have given to the parish in sharing their faith and praying with children," said Debbie Schmalen, parish director of faith formation. "This deserved honor is in deep appreciation for their dedication to this ministry and in teaching the fundamentals of the Roman Catholic faith and preparing our children to receive the holy sacraments."
