St. Catherine of Siena parish joins in 31st annual Life Chain event Oct. 7

On Sunday, Oct. 7, the community is invited to "take a stand for life" at the 31st annual National Life Chain Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, routes 72 and 31 in West Dundee near Spring Hill Mall.

Participants will meet at the church at 12:45 p.m. for the Northern Kane County annual life chain.

"We will gather in silent prayer for one hour in solidarity with over 1,200 Life Chains across the U.S.A. and Canada," said Dan Biggins, the parish Respect Life coordinator. "We are proud to join our other Diocese of Rockford parishes on this day to demonstrate that many individuals within our own communities support life."

Signs and prayers are provided. The hourlong event will be entirely prayerful and peaceful.

The signs will be available near the west parking lot of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Crosses will be placed on the parish lawn representing the number of babies lost to abortion every hour in the nation.

Elderly or disabled participants are welcome to bring wheelchairs or folding chairs. Small children are welcome with parental supervision.

The community is also invited to participate in the "40 Days for Life" St. Catherine's prayer vigil to take place at Planned Parenthood in Aurora from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 6.

The Life Chain is a peaceful and prayerful public witness and a visual statement of solidarity by the Christian community. The Church supports the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception until natural death. Visit www.LifeChain.net.
