Sufi devotional music program held in Skokie for support of Domestic Violence Shelter

Suzy's Place is the nonprofit organization in the Rogers Park neighborhood Chicagoland providing the Domestic Violence Shelter for needy and abused women and Children, hosted a Sufi devotional music Qawwali Night performed by energetic and young Qawwali group named Hamza Akram and Brother's on Friday 08, September 2018 at the Holiday Inn in Skokie. It was a magical evening dedicated to bringing awareness to women and children survivors of domestic violence.

The Suzy's Place already have a homeless shelter operated in Devon Avenue Chicago, but need required more funding to do more raises awareness programs and accommodate more women in Shelters and provides emotional support and diversified continuum of services.

The prominent of Chicagoland's Pakistani and Indian community attended the evening. Everyone was excited to support this worthy cause. Ms. Arshia Hasnain, Executive Director, welcomed all the guests and introduced Suzy's Place to the esteemed audience. She explained about the programs and workshops for their clients and others in the area. The free temporary housing for three months, free legal help desk, free yoga classes, free meditation and stress management workshops, free health screenings, ESL classes and many more services all benefit their clients in the Rogers Park neighborhood. Ms. Shahida Khan, Chairman of Board of Directors of Suzy's Place thanked all the guests, supporters, sponsors and volunteers for their dedication and commitment to help the cause. Renowned Pakistani Journalist Mr. Rana Javed introduced the Qawwali group, explaining the history of Qawwali music as an art form that originated in North India.

Hamza Akram and his group thrilled the audience with their enthusiasm and sheer talent. The evening lasted till 1:30am. The hall was full to the very end.
