Saint Viator High School to Pay Tribute to Alumni Who Have Served in the Military with New Display
Saint Viator High School recently launched an interactive display in the school to honor Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary alumni who have served, or are currently serving, in the United States military. The school is currently seeking information from all alumni who have served to add to the display.
"In our initial discovery phase, I was surprised to learn how many Saint Viator alumni have served in one of the branches of our military," said President Brian Liedlich. "At Saint Viator we teach students about the importance of service. Our hope is that this display will further emphasize that message and inspire our students to serve others in ways big and small."
The interactive display features a touchscreen monitor in the school's main hallway. The display includes Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary alumni who served in the military, showing a high school graduation photo and military photo for each individual. The display also showcases which branch of the military each alumnus served in, the highest rank received, and when and where they served.
"This display will serve as a lasting acknowledgement of the service and sacrifice of Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary alumni," said Kathleen Lynde, Alumni Relations Manager at Saint Viator. "It's our way of paying tribute to past students using state-of-the-art technology, keeping in line with our school's vision of joining tradition and innovation."
Students and visitors have been stopping by to view the alumni bios and are able to search the database using the touchscreen to find alumni by name or branch of service. Alumni who have seen the display have been impressed and pleased with the initiative.
