New members invited to join Fox Valley Festival Chorus

Rehearsals for the Fox Valley Festival Chorus will begin Monday, Sept. 10, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 27 S. Edgelawn Drive, Aurora.

Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. and rehearsal begins at 7 p.m.

New members are welcome. Members range in age from high school through retirees and come from dozens of surrounding communities. No auditions are required for general membership; only for solos and ensembles. The group is under the direction of Mary Beth McCarthy and accompanied by Bonnie Werthmann.

The 2018 fall season will focus on music from the British Isles, including several madrigals and both reverent and playful Christmas numbers.

Performances will include a wine-tasting cabaret fundraiser in November and a traditional holiday concert Sunday, Dec. 9, at Rosary High School in Aurora.

In addition to performing locally, the chorus has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Vatican. A performance trip to Toronto, Canada, is in the works for June 2019. Those wishing to go on the Toronto trip must join the chorus for the fall 2018 and spring 2019 seasons to prepare.

The Fox Valley Festival Chorus is the Chicago area's original community chorus and has been providing musical entertainment in the area since 1955.
